Ethic Influences on Dress

Some countries have dress that has been the same for centuries and those influences through the styles of dress have come to the United States. These different styles have become very fashionable and then return to old news in our fashion circle. Though we use these for fashion reasons, other countries use theirs for religious purposes, for protection, and for higher leaders in the government. Some of these pieces of dress that we use her in the US scarves, the tunic, and the veil. These are all influences from other countries such as Iraq, Thailand and one major continent, Africa. These countries have they own specific dress that show some influence in ours.

African people dress with tunics of bright colors, these tunics are long shirts down to the knees. Women in the US to do almost identically to the African women.

Iraq women and men wear scarves to protect them for protection from the sand. Women not only wear scarves but head dresses due to religious reasons. We do not wear them for religious reasons here but we do wear them for weather to keep up warm.

The way women dress in Thailand is my favorite. The fabrics are so elegant and soft looking full of bright colors. Women dress in silk dresses and the colors and styles have been an influence on the US.

New York Fashio Week - Spring 09

I really enjoyed looking at most of the designers lines for Spring of 2009. There were a lot of great dresses and pieces that were very glamorous! On the other hand, some lines I, personally, didn't like at all. I think that the trend for Spring 09 is mostly structured pieces, not just jackets but dresses that are very detailed and different, such as Calvin Klein who puts a twist on dress structure but still leaves it very chic.

Narciso Rodriguez stood out to me because in his designs there were a lot of strips and different lines on his garments. I think that this is also going to be a big trend this spring. The colors in his collection weren’t bright and flamboyant but what gave them personality were the details with the stripped fabric. It was different but I think that its going to be a big hit!

Some of my favorite lines for Spring 09 are Oscar De La Renta, he is one of my favorite. He always impresses me with something new and everything it just so feminine and glamorous and beautiful. He appeals to all ages and has all different styles of dress from actually dresses to suits that never take away from a women’s body! The fabrics are beyond belief, they are so natural and earthy with a touch of sparkly that give it a elegant touch.

Carolina Herrera was also one of my favorites. I fell in love with her collection as soon as I saw it. I love the red and the yellow, its very sexy and elegant and the detail was phenomenal and the patterns within the fabric was beautiful! This line was by-far one of the best. It was very sophisticated just like herself!

Organic and Environmentally Friendly Clothing

One of today’s largest growing trends is saving the environment. One of the ways people are doing this most is through clothing. People of all ages from little children all the way to older adults are getting really involved in wearing organic clothing.

When some people think of organic clothing they think, "how fashionable could that be?" "I don’t want to walk around in that all day". Well, Jonano, one of the designers of eco-chic clothing, has out great lines or organic clothing that is very trendy for this and the upcoming seasons! Jonano’s clothing lines are all machine washable and require no dry cleaning or bleaching.

Jonano has a great selection of women’s clothing that are various in colors and styles. My favorite collection is the Toas collection because it appeals to a younger group of people. There are great layering and basic pieces for everyday wear. Not only does Jonano have women’s clothing but there is children’s clothing for mom’s that also want to keep their children organically trendy as well. The fabrics are very soft and are made out of ecoKashmere. Bright colors are the basic theme of the children’s collection.

Organic clothing to me is one of the smarter choices in buying clothing because not only is it helping the envoirnment around us but it is also one of the more stronger and sustainable types of clothing. The material is all from nature and hasn’t been weakened by the dying and processing of other fabrics.

Whether or not you completely change your wardrobe over to organic and environmentally friendly clothing, you can still have a few pieces that you and the enviornment appreciates!

Monique Lhuillier

My name is Codie Calloway and one of my favorite designers is Monique Lhuillier. Not only does she design handbags and clothes, but she designs wedding dresses! I think that they are spectacular! Her wedding gowns are simple, elegant, and its true when they say "less is more." Monique Lhuiller knows how to let a bride's inner beauty shine through with dresses that make brides feel the best they ever have! I love the silk and most of all, the lace! Its so elegant and sexy. Her 2007 collection is my favorite. Monique Lhuillier adds the smallest details that make the dress stand out and draws everyone's attention.
Her clothing is also great! This years collection I love because the colors are neutral and every piece is so unique. The styles are classy and the shapes are very distinctive. The beading and jewels add that touch of spunk and sparkle. The gray and black outfits are my favorite because I am drawn to those colors.
Monique Lhuillier's classy and fresh ideas are what make her so great and this also shows through in her handbags. They could go with any formal outfit and they also have the great beading on them. The fabric is a subtle animal print and is very trendy.
